HUNTING IN OKLAHOMA

Hunting is one of the most common pastimes people enjoy when they come to The Grand Lake o' the Cherokees. The wilds surrounding the lake are teeming with different kinds of wildlife—especially fowl like ducks, pheasants, and quail.

Hunting enthusiasts love the variety of animals they'll be on the hunt for, and several popular hunting ranches close to Marina Del Rey, it makes the hobby more accessible for those who know little about how to hunt.

In this guide, we'll review everything you need to know about hunting near our beautiful lake.

Oklahoma Hunting License

Before you can even think about bagging a bird, the State of Oklahoma must make sure you are qualified to own a weapon and that you are aware of the safety regulations that are in place while you're on the plains. You can buy a hunting license online.

Licenses last until the end of the year, regardless of when you purchased them. This may differ depending on hunting seasons for specific animals.

License Prices

Resident Annual Hunting: $25
Resident Combo Hunting / Fishing: $42
Resident Youth Hunting (16-17-year-olds): $5
Nonresident Annual Hunting: $142 (not valid for antelope, deer, bear, elk)
Nonresident 5-Day Hunting: $75 (not valid for antelope, deer, bear, elk, turkey, or quail)

Renowned for its off-roading fans (self-proclaimed rockhoppers), the Rock Garden is full of slated rock, dirt plains, and a nearby pond for you to get your tires wet in. People from all over gather at the rock garden for all sorts of fun events and occasionally even concerts.

If off-roading is your passion, this is a must-visit location for you when you stay with Marina Del Rey Resort.

Regulations

Because Oklahoma wants to keep its wildlife safely regulated, there are limits to what you can hunt even if you have a license. If you want to hunt deer, you will need an annual license plus a deer license on top of that. You can find more information about this on the e-regulations website.

Additionally, if you have an open carry or concealed carry permit for your weapon, you are allowed to bring it to Oklahoma regardless of where you live in the United States.

Hunting Seasons

While most birds don't have a specific hunting season, it's still a good idea to double-check the date ranges for different animals. Not knowing that you are okay to hunt something can cost you a pretty penny in fines from the state government.
