OKLAHOMA MUSEUMS

We, in northwestern Oklahoma, have a storied history that is interesting to explore. While some of the primary exhibits you'll find here date back to the Civil War, others are about topics far more modern than you might expect.

If you want to appreciate the culture we harbor here, take a look at some of these historical hotspots!


Har-Ber Village Museum

Address: 4404 W 20th Rd, Grove, OK

The Village is open seasonally from Mid-March to early November.

Pioneer Days

The Har-Ber Village is a throwback to simpler times in American history. You won't only watch live historical demonstrations, but you'll get a chance to try things that pioneers did for themselves.

This is just a sample of the things you'll try:
  • Basket Weaving
  • Candle Dipping
  • Butter Churning
  • Dye Making
  • Coffee and Corn Grinding

Civil War Era Days

On the other hand, you'll get a chance to experience the life of a Civil War soldier. Watch live demonstrations of soldiers firing their guns and cannons. You can ask any of the workers questions about the time period.

At Har-Ber Village, you won't just be educated, you'll be entertained the whole way through!


Darryl Starbird Museum

National Rod & Custom Car Hall

Darryl Starbird is a legend in the car industry. He started customizing his own vehicles way back in 1954 and continued throughout his life. You can take a look at some of the cars he designed, admire how they changed and maybe take inspiration if engineering is your thing.


Starbird Car Show

If you time it right, you may be able to visit Grand Lake when a car show is going on. Keep up-to-date on car show information on the Starbird Museum website.

Delaware County Historical Society

Yet another historical complex dedicated to preserving history of Delaware County, Oklahoma. You can learn about the Pensacola Dam, WWII stories and other beautiful examples of human heroism throughout America's history. It's a little bit of a drive from Marina Del Rey Resort but if you are passing through, it's definitely worth a stop.

Eastern Trails Museum

Because Eastern Trails Museum is sponsored by the town, it's costs absolutely nothing to visit.

Eastern Trails covers some of the local history of northwestern Oklahoma. You'll see gorgeous antiques, hear stories from people who came from Vinita and much more! Check it out if you're interested in learning the smaller stories in Oklahoma.


Motorcycle Museum

This is possibly the best motorcycle museum in the nation. It's affordable. You have unlimited access to tour guides who can answer questions about the various bikes on display and after you are done looking around, you can enjoy a sandwich at the cafe in-house.

You now have all of the museum highlights surrounding the Grand Lake o' the Cherokees! Be sure to make a stop to at least a couple of them. You won't regret learning more about our corner of the world.
